The court-appointed attorneys handling the estate of James Brown announced Wednesday that a plan is in place to appraise and auction off belongings of the late music icon.

Adele Pope and Robert Buchanan announced that a deal with international auction house Christie’s is being finalized in the next few weeks.

Proceeds of the auctioned items would, in part, go toward paying taxes owed by the estate, the two trustees said at a hearing in Aiken County Court in South Carolina.

Brown died Dec. 25, 2006
