The Heffel online fine-art auction broke a Canadian record on the weekend thanks to a soaring Asian art market. The online auction grossed $2.5 million, making it Canada’s largest-ever sale of fine art on the Internet.

Art from Asia led the way, including a canvas from Chinese artists Zao Wou-Ki, titled 5.11.62, which sold for $718,750 (with buyers premium).

The auction, which featured 181 works of international art, attracted bidding from collectors in Canada, the U.S., China and Taiwan.
