SODA auction set for Friday

The Prince George Samuha Overseas Development Association is hosting a silent auction Friday with wine and appetizers to raise funds for people in Southern India who live with severe disabilities.

Physiotherapist Hilary Crowley, who founded SODA in 1994 in Prince George, and has made a dozen trips to India to work with the project, will give a slide show update on the work going on during her last visit in January and February.

The event will be held at 8 p.m. at Treasure Cove. Tickets, at $25, are available at Dandy-Lines, or by calling Lesley at 964-708. Auction items are also appreciated.

Local artists are hand-painting 75 wine glasses that can be purchased for $50. One will hold the grand prize donated by Michael’s Jewellers and Westcana Electric.

“This auction is a major fund-raiser event for us and all the money raised goes directly to help children with disabilities in Samuha’s program,” said Crowley.

Those who cannot attend, but would like to make a donation can send tax-deductible cheques to Samuha Overseas Development Association, Box 27, Summit Lake, B.C. V0J 2S0.
